About Desiree:
Desirée Rumbaugh teaches from the experiences of more than two decades
of practice. She was one of the first students to study with John Friend, and
one of the first to be certified in his Anusara method of yoga. As a full-time
teacher, Desirée travels the world offering workshops, which are innovative
and transformative, challenging and compassionate.
She has a well-earned reputation for deepening the most new to the most
seasoned practices, through humor balanced with a quest for authenticity. September
2007 marked the release of her first DVD entitled Yoga to the Rescue, which is
specially designed for those who have avoided yoga because of a lack
of flexibility, low fitness level or chronic pain. Her newest DVD entitled
Yoga to the Rescue for Back Pain was released in January 2008 with wide acclaim. Desirée is also
a contributor to various organizations and publications, including the Yoga

Dr. Moncton is a chiropractor at the Westboro
Holistic Health Center. I’ve been seeing Dr. Moncton for
over 3 years. Every time I walk into his office, I leave
there a little bit more knowledgeable and wanting to
learn more. His enthusiasm and passion for health and
wellness and particular how it relates to the spine is
infectious. He explains things in a way that is
accessible and understanding to those of us that don’t
have a medical background. He and his wife practice at
Metrowest Yoga and love how yoga is so closely related
to his work as a chiropractor. We decided to offer this
series of classes to our students to bring more clarity
and awareness to the healing aspects of yoga.

The Body Learns What You Teach It –
how to avoid injury in yoga

Pain teaches the body to move differently. If it
hurts to move, the body will adapt and move in a way to
avoid pain. The body moves in Patterns of Motion which
adapt to each individual's Body Type, history of
injuries & daily habits.
In this class we’ll examine common injuries and how
to avoid them.

Kirtan
with Heather &
Benji Wertheimer

As the duo Shantala, Benjy and Heather Wertheimer lead kirtan (sacred chanting) worldwide, bringing audiences sacred lyrics,
soul-stirring vocals, and exotic instrumentation. Kirtan is celebration of spirit through the chanting of sacred names carrying
participants into a state of heightened awareness, bliss, and devotion. The audience is invited to participate fully through
call-and-response, dance, and meditation. The weaving of Benjy's Indian classical singing and instrumentation with Heather's
soaring vocals is fresh, original, and profoundly moving. Together they create a beautiful music full of passion and reverence.
Shantala has performed and recorded internationally with such sacred music luminaries as Krishna Das, Deva Premal and Miten, and Jai Uttal
About Heather:
Heather Wertheimer is a
singer, songwriter, and guitarist who draws on her
special love of both music and yoga to lead devotional
chanting for yoga workshops and spiritual gatherings.
Heather has toured in the U.S. and abroad with her
husband Benjy, Steve Gorn, Manose, and Deva Premal and
Miten. Heather's debut CD with Shantala,
"Church
of Sky," was named one of the top ten albums of 2004
by New Age Retailer and has aired on radio stations
nationwide. In April 2003, she and Benjy released
"The Love
Window," a well-loved collection of sacred chants
that has become a classic among yoga practitioners.
About Benji:
Benjy Wertheimer is an
award-winning songwriter, vocalist, composer, and
multi-instrumentalist (tabla, congas, percussion, esraj,
guitar, and keyboards). Benjy has toured and recorded
with such artists as Krishna Das, Deva Premal and Miten,
Jai Uttal, Walter Becker (Steely Dan), and virtuoso
guitarist Michael Mandrell. He has opened for such
artists as Carlos Santana, Paul Winter, and Narada
Michael Walden. A founding member of the internationally
acclaimed Ancient Future world fusion music ensemble,
Benjy toured the U.S., Canada, and Japan with renowned
bamboo flute master GS Sachdev. He studied Indian
classical music for over 25 years with some of the
greatest masters of that tradition (including Alla Rakha,
Zakir Hussain, Ali Akbar Khan and Z. M. Dagar). Benjy's
music receives extensive airplay around the world, and
his CD
"Circle of Fire" reached #1 on the New Age radio
charts in November 2002.

YogaKids uses yoga as a pathway to create a unique approach to integrative learning. Using skilled facilitators,
the style and pace of the class addresses the natural interest, needs, and rhythm of children. In class, children are
engaged through active, inspiring activities. They stretch, breath, relax, and enjoy the many benefits of yoga in fun
and playful ways. The end result is they feel great! Children today are under a tremendous amount of stress from school,
their environment, peer competition and expectations from the media. Stress impacts the way children learn and interact
with their surroundings, thus affecting their health, well-being and confidence. YogaKids helps children de-stress and
relax, creating the ultimate learning adventure.
About Erin:
Erin E. Christiano is a licensed mental health counselor who has been working with
children of all ages for the past ten years. Throughout her work with children she discovered that she was spending a
considerable amount of time educating children about themselves and their bodies. Basic relaxation skills, body awareness,
and self- esteem were topics that she addressed with children on a daily basis. In addition, Erin has also been
personally committed to various forms of physical fitness, and has worked diligently to incorporate movement and exercise
into her own life, as well as her work with children. Through developing individual programs for her students aimed at
increasing self-esteem and awareness, while allowing for movement and exercise, Erin has been actively involved in
assisting children live healthy and happier lives. Recently Erin has enrolled in the YogaKids International Intensive
Training Program, where she is a YogaKids Associate. Erin is very passionate about the YogaKids mission and feels that
the combination of traditional yoga philosophies and asanas, presented in a child friendly, fun manner, has a tremendous
positive impact on a child’s self-esteem and learning. With her skills as a counselor, and her yoga background, Erin is
committed to educating the whole child’s mind, body, and spirit, while creating a connection with the world around them.
