Module 1 Blueprint of Tadasana Nov 14-15
Day 1: Applied Anatomy of Sun Salutation A & B
Day 2: Applied Anatomy of Standing Poses
Module 2 Expanding the Blueprint of Tadasana Dec 5-6
Day 1: Applied Anatomy of Twists
Day 2: Applied Anatomy of Backbends
A sustainable yoga practice begins with understanding how our bodies move.
Using Tadasana (Mountain Pose) as our foundation, these anatomy-based sessions will explore how subtle refinements in alignment, muscular engagement and body awareness influence every posture that follows. From there, we’ll apply these principles to traditional vinyasa sequences, helping you move with greater efficiency, stability and ease.
Rather than focusing on achieving an “ideal” shape, these sessions will deepen your understanding of how your unique body moves. Together, we’ll explore practical modifications, refine movement patterns that support long-term practice and develop tools you can immediately apply in both flow classes and your own teaching.
Each session includes:
An accessible exploration of the anatomy behind yoga poses
The “why” behind alignment and teaching cues
Demonstrations that break down the essential elements of the poses
Opportunities to receive individual feedback on your alignment
A guide book with visuals to support concepts and guided notes
Modules 1 and 2 build upon each other, however are designed to stand alone. (You can sign up individually)
Whether you’re a teacher looking to offer more individualized, informed guidance to students or a practitioner seeking a deeper understanding of your body, these sessions will give you practical knowledge to support a stronger, more sustainable relationship with your practice.

The shoulders are complex joints that rely on a thoughtful balance of strength, mobility, and stability to function well. Developing awareness of shoulder and scapular positioning can help prevent injury, reduce common tension at the base of the neck, and support longevity in your yoga practice.
In this advanced training module, Ray offers an in-depth exploration of shoulder health in yoga.
Saturday's session features a two-hour workshop focused on building healthy, resilient shoulders for long-term practice. Following the workshop, participants will have time for questions, one-on-one guidance, and a deeper look at key stability exercises and movement concepts.
Sunday's session takes a comprehensive look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulders, shoulder blades, and upper arms. Through a detailed breakdown of the joints, muscles, and movement patterns involved, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the concepts introduced on Saturday and why specific positioning and strengthening strategies support healthy shoulder function.
The Sunday module also includes techniques for relieving tension at the base of the neck and between the shoulder blades. Drawing from manual therapy principles, participants will learn hands-on approaches that complement targeted strengthening exercises to improve comfort and movement.
This workshop draws from Ray's extensive background in yoga, massage therapy, and strength training inspired by calisthenics, gymnastics, and other bodyweight movement disciplines.

Low back health is an essential component for ease of movement in a yoga practice and beyond. Through the strength and awareness-building workshop we’ll explore how everyday movement habits, both on and off the mat, can impact low back health and how to shift toward more supportive patterns.
This advanced study module will include attending the Saturday workshop with additional time afterwards for one-on-one work, questions, and a deeper exploration of exercises. Sunday will contain a detailed overview of the anatomy of the spine, pelvis and hips, as well as an exploration of how things work together in yoga poses and beyond. Sunday will also include methods of releasing tension in the hips, core strengthening, and strategies for establishing balance in the muscles that move the spine, hips, and pelvis.
This workshop is not a quick fix for back pain, nor is it a substitute for medical treatment. Instead, it’s a toolkit of practices designed to help you gradually cultivate resilience, mobility, and strength in your low back over time. Modifications will be offered throughout, and participants are always encouraged to listen to their own bodies. If you’re currently experiencing significant back issues, please consult your healthcare provider before attending.

January 23/24
The eight limb path of yoga is laid out in The Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, the text widely noted as the original guidebook of yoga. Called ashtanga in sanskrit (ashta=eight, anga=limb), the eight limb path outlines right action, self discipline, attention to health and basically acts as a spiritual guideline toward living life more beautifully.
Some of the limbs - asana (postures) and pranayama (breath control) - are more easily encountered in any yoga class. But the whole of yoga is really the sum of all the limbs, and the way we move through the world and our lives incorporating the full path.
This intensive will allow a deeper exploration into each of the eight limbs and how we can foster them both on and off the mat. This learning will include lecture, discussion, journaling, meditation and asana.
The 8 Limbs:Yamas (Ethical Disciplines)
Niyamas (Observances)
Asana (Postures)
Pranayama (Breath Control)
Pratyahara (Sense Withdrawal)
Dharana (Concentration)
Dhyana (Meditation)
Samadhi (Enlightenment)
From Shawn:
I have found deep guidance in the 8 limb path in my own life and through my teaching. They have been a grounding foundation to help navigate life’s challenges, keep me close to my practice, and generally cultivate a life that is more peaceful and content. I’m excited to share my experience and take a deeper dive with you!
