Energy of the Chakras

The name Chakra derives from the Sanskrit word for “wheel” or “turning”, but in yogic context a better translation of the word is ‘vortex or whirlpool’. They are located at the physical counterparts of the major arteries, veins, and nerves. Chakras are part of the subtle body, not the physical body, and as such are the meeting points of the subtle (non-physical) energy channels, called “nadiis”. Nadiis are channels in the subtle body through which the life force “Prana” or energy moves. There are many chakras in the subtle human body according to the tantric texts, but there are 7 which are the most important ones which we will explore in this workshop.

When these energy centers are blocked or slowed, we can experience both physical and emotional issues. The practice of yoga helps to keep these chakra or energy centers functioning more fully.

Join Shawn for this fun and informative flow class that will guide you through a practice which will introduce each Chakra and explore how your yoga practice can help unblock powerful energy resources that can bring new vitality to your practice and your life!
